35 days: Donald Trump’s Ground Game Falters
It is going to be the difference
You know what irritates me the most? I can’t find out how much Kamala Harris’s campaign is spending on its ground game. I’ve been keeping track of their ad spending, both online and on broadcast, but there’s very little reliable information about their campaign strength on the ground.
In Wisconsin, the Harris campaign has opened offices in 43 of the state’s 48 counties. In North Carolina, there are 27 offices across 24 counties, and in Pennsylvania, there are 50 offices.
Candidates running for office aim to establish direct contact with voters to remind them about the election and encourage them to vote. That’s why these efforts are called Get Out the Vote (GOTV). During presidential election cycles, campaigns work with the national party to establish a coordinated ground game. It’s a team effort, not something done alone.
For reasons unknown, Donald Trump’s campaign has decided to disconnect from the Republican National Committee. They aren’t working together. Instead, Trump has outsourced the ground game to outside groups.
