A letter to African Americans

I don’t have an excellent way to explain this, but I have decided to give it a try.

There are only two political parties in the United States. Democrats understand they cannot win without the support of African Americans, but they repeatedly fail to turn things around.

Republicans know the democratic campaigns are doomed without the support of African Americans, and they repeatedly succeed in chipping away at the collective electoral value of the African American community.

African Americans are caught in the middle with nowhere to go. Democrats have always been like this — apologetic and fearful of exercising power.

The GOP rammed one Supreme Court nominee after another while the democrats sat there and watched them tap dance around constitutional rights. One rule for a Democratic president and an exactly opposite rule for a Republican president.

As democrats clutched the bi-partisan wagon, the Republicans used it only when it was convenient for them.

The Democrats would have never been in this situation had they made Washington D.C., the 51st state when the bill came for a vote under Bill Clinton. The democratic heads in the sand moment 27 years ago is the reason for the conservative Supreme Court.
