Biden Pushes Republicans on the Back Foot With a Single Word
“Possibility”
If Biden keeps doing this, we have no choice but to upgrade senate experience as an essential qualification for presidential candidates. President Biden has outmaneuvered Mitch McConnell and the GOP three times in a row.
First, he cleared the $1.9tn coronavirus relief bill, one of the largest emergency relief in U.S. history. Second, he forced the Republicans to negotiate and pass the bipartisan infrastructure bill. Now, he has pushed the GOP to drop the debt blockade temporarily.
Let us not underestimate Mitch McConnell. He is as good as he has always been. Biden is just two steps ahead of the Kentucky Senator. He anticipates McConnell’s moves and patiently waits for his time to move in for the kill.
The two-track infrastructure bill strategy was a masterstroke. Biden deliberately dangled his fallback move on the White House lawn.
A democrat-only infrastructure bill was waiting in the wings to absorb the contents of a failed bipartisan infrastructure bill. Mitch McConnell accepted the predicament and granted the votes needed to clear the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
