Biden will deliver the infrastructure bill

But it won’t make a difference to the midterm calculus

Democrats will work long hours. They will negotiate, re-negotiate, write and rewrite complex pieces of legislation. Tie themselves into multiple knots and then painstakingly untie themselves to pass the bill.

The Republicans will turn the election into a war of words and win. Anger, anxiety, resentment, phobias, threats, vilification, and the entire vocabulary will be brought forth.

Biden will abolish the suburbs. I still don’t have any idea what it even means. But it means something for the GOP.

“Newsstand magazine sales increase by roughly 30 percent when the cover is negative rather than positive”.

GOP plays the psychological game, while the Democrats lose the plot playing policy wonks.

This isn’t to say governance is for fools. But you can’t govern when you are out of power. GOP is ready to win by any means. They are prepared to retain power at any cost. Accumulating legislative wins mean nothing in a country that can be swung by Facebook posts and outrageous tweets.

Biden could clear the biggest infrastructure bill in the history of the United States but still lose the midterms by the widest…
