China Collapses Under COVID-19 With 37 Million Cases in a Day
This will be the largest Covid-19 outbreak in history
“Most of China’s population has gotten at least one vaccine dose, but only 66% of people 80 and older are fully vaccinated and just over 40% had received a booster shot, an official with China’s National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention said last week. China has said it was aiming to get at least 90% of people, 80 and older, at least one shot by the end of January”.
The single paragraph written above leads us to the problem China created for itself. Wuhan, the epicenter of the Covid-19 outbreak was locked down on January 23, 2020. Donald Trump was the President when the lockdown was announced. The city of 11 million people was shut down for more than two months.
Nearly three years sprinted past between now and then. But China is yet to vaccinate the elderly, one of the worst affected age groups.
Portugal, Ireland, Germany, France and Denmark have fully vaccinated more than 90% of the adult population. More than 92% of Americans older than 65 are vaccinated. This is one of the factors that allowed Covid-19 mortality rate to not proportionally follow the case load in western countries.
