The Republican party staved off a disaster. The 88-year-old Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley announced today at 4.00 a.m. that he is seeking reelection.

How did I know it was 4 a.m? Because Senator Chuck Grassley told the entire world.

"It's 4 a.m. in Iowa so I'm running. I do that 6 days a week. Before I start the day I want you to know what Barbara and I have decided. I'm running for reelection — a lot more to do, for Iowa. We ask and will work for your support", Senator Grassley said in a tweet.

Although his margin of victory has come down a bit over the years, he can still win more than 60% of the votes—a full ten percent more than the number earned by the other Iowa Senator Joni Ernst, in 2020.

Other than his advanced age, Iowans have no problem whatsoever with Grassley. That's why he tweeted so early in the morning to remind us: He is healthy…
