Democrats are making the same mistake they did with ACA
It’s 2010 all over again
The 2008 recession was a bit up close and personal for me. I was just out of college. It was a mind-blowing experience to watch the business world crash and burn.
Everyone knew we were in a recession. But no one had any idea when we would get back to normalcy. Millions inside and outside the United States were rendered jobless.
Furious Americans voted as if they were on a mission. They kicked the GOP out of power and gave Obama a thumping majority on November 4, 2008.
The newly minted President was awarded 365 electoral votes. Democrats won 257 seats in the House of Representatives, the largest ever since 1994. The Senate went from 49 democrats, 49 Republicans before the election to 57–41 in favor of the democrats after the election.
Though the recession did leave a bad feeling about GOP, I was still leaning Republican. I firmly believed trickle-down economics and low taxes would take the country to the next level.
I held the GOP responsible for the 2008 recession, and they earned the electoral punishment. It’s over now—time to move on.
