Dems are Ahead. But why doesn’t it feel that way?

Because that is how the media likes it

According to generic congressional ballot polls, where voters are asked which party’s candidate they will support for congress, Democrats are ahead of Republicans by 0.8 percentage points.

It is still more likely that Democrats will win control of the Senate than Republicans. Democrats lead in Arizona and Georgia Senate seats, while they have decent chances to win Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

But the way the media is covering the 2022 midterms, makes me wonder if they want the GOP to win so that they can boost their ratings. In reality, the House map remains a toss-up, while the Senate remains the Democrats’ to lose.

The 2022 midterms were supposed to be a red wave, but instead it has been one heck of a tug-of-war. I consider that a huge win for the democrats, because they were the ones who were expected to lose. There were pollsters who were talking about 30 seat gain for the GOP in the House and a potential rout in the Senate as well.

But nothing is going to happen on that scale. The result is going to be extremely tight at the margins.

The State of the House
