With more and more states joining the early voting list, turnout for the 2022 midterm elections has begun to break records. As of October 27th, more than 15.8 million votes have already been cast.

There are 5.3 million in-person early votes, 10.4 million mail ballots returned, but the total number of mail ballots requested is 55 million, which is at least 10 million fewer than in 2020.

In 2020, more than 100 million Americans voted early, either in person or by postal mail; but the 2020 election was extremely difficult due to the pandemic, so many people chose a contact-less method to cast their ballots. But many Americans may vote early this year in person.

While 2022 may not surpass 2020’s record, there is a high probability that this year’s election will surpass 2018 turnout.

Almost 113 million Americans voted in the midterms in 2018. We can expect the United States to end up with a lot more than 113 million votes this year if the current voting pace continues. I think the U.S. will easily break the 2018 level. I just don’t know how high it can get.

It will be increasingly difficult for the Republican party as the turnout climbs. The red party needs turnout to stay between below…
