Germany Snaps. Kremlin Balks.
Taurus missiles or not, the air-defense heavy lifting executed by the Germans is a major turning point in this war.
There was a Germany in 2022. Then there was another Germany in 2023. But the one we are experiencing in 2024 is completely different. The latest version, the one we have right now, simply refuses to give up.
We can view the situation through the lens of their ongoing refusal to send the long-range German-made Taurus missiles, which have the potential to wreck enemy logistics, or we can set that aside and look at what they are doing with a fresh perspective.
I prefer the latter.
The internal German political noose around the supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine has been wound so tightly that it will never break free. Let’s leave it behind.
This is a nation that steadfastly refused for a very long time to understand its own strength, to recognize that it can truly don the leadership role in protecting democracies around the world against enemies who seek to cripple them.
