This is the beginning of the end for the Republican party in Arizona. In the world of election reporters trying to balance everything, a statement such as this might seem sweeping.

May be, it is.

But I don’t see a viable path for the GOP to win Arizona this year. This has nothing to do with partisan ideology, but everything to do with the Republican midterm roster in Arizona. There is a complete disconnect between the Arizona GOP and the state’s political situation.

State of Arizona

In four years, Arizona went from sending Donald Trump to the White House by 91k votes to sending Biden by 11k votes. Between those two races, Arizona elected a Democratic Senator by 55k votes.

In 2018, Arizona reached a purple patch.

The speed at which Kyrsten Sinema sprinted from left to center right is unparalleled in the current group of senators. By exploiting the 2018 blue wave, she quickly established an oscillating right-left position. She’s no fool. She made a calculated decision to take votes from both parties and secure her future in the Senate.
