Has the bottom fallen out of Trump Campaign?

The lead continues to widen as Harris threatens to move beyond pollsters’ margins of error.

There was a Trump campaign before August 1, 2024, and there is another Trump campaign after that date. The pre-August 1 campaign was enamored with pollsters, while the post-August 1 campaign views polls as unreliable. Nonetheless, polls can sometimes be wrong; it’s a part of their nature.

However, trendlines cannot lie and can often cut through the noise introduced by partisan pollsters.

That trendline is now showing a clear advance by the Harris campaign. At the beginning of August, Harris was neck and neck with the Trump campaign. Now, the lead has widened to 3.2% nationally, and in Wisconsin — a state that I view as a microcosm of the nation — the lead is also 3.2%.

Consider a football game: it’s very challenging to change momentum as the clock winds down. Trump has lost his lead and is also losing time. With just 62 days left until Election Day, the situation worsens for Trump as early voting begins in Illinois on September 26, 2024, 40 days before the election. States will gradually begin opening their early voting windows.
