Why did Donald Trump duck the Republican Presidential Primary debates?

It was an entirely selfish, unconventional, and calculated decision. We can discuss the negatives of his actions all day long and how it deprived Republican voters of an opportunity to compare, contrast, and select from what was on offer.

Trump made a decision he thought was in his best interest. He was leading the polls. So he denied his opponents a chance to attack and bring him down. It worked. He won the primary.

That is the opponent Kamala Harris is dealing with. He is going to duck the Presidential debate with Harris. Trump will not allow the split screen. No matter how much orange makeup he applies, he will come across as a grumpy old man standing next to a happy, younger woman.

Once again, a selfish, unconventional, and calculated decision. Voters are, of course, being deprived of a chance to compare and contrast the two candidates and make their selection.

The best way to lose to Donald Trump is by running a conventional campaign and clinging to old traditions…
