What makes a $250 billion company move faster than a viral ad?

A viral attack ad.

Toyota lost its balance after the Lincoln Project took the Japanese automaker for a wild ride “over its continued support of members of Congress who voted to overturn the election results.”

As soon as the ad started percolating through social media, Toyota took the brave step to stop contributions to congressional members who contested the certification of 2020 election results.

Just a week earlier, the carmaker had defended donations to members of the sedition caucus.

Let’s Rewind a Little

The January 6th insurrection made dozens of corporations take a ‘no more donations’ pledge. The corporations told us they would not donate to 147 GOP members in the House who objected to certifying 2020 Presidential election results.

Despite the promise, many corporations quietly began donating to GOP lawmakers who objected to the election results. They failed miserably after making a huge bet on our collective ability to forget.
