GOP loses the plot
Freedom Caucus laughs at Donald Trump
It is day 3 of the Republican circus in Washington, D.C. and the House Speaker position still remains vacant.
The House voted seven times in two days to elect the speaker, but Kevin McCarthy could not find the votes he needed. Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi rubbed salt into McCarthy’s already open wound by saying, “For the seventh time, Jeffries, ”while casting her vote.
After watching swing state voters and independents across the country reject his candidates, Donald Trump tried to rally the representatives of the far-right in favor of Kevin McCarthy.
Former president Donald Trump voiced fresh support Wednesday for Kevin McCarthy’s bid for House speaker, counseling fellow Republicans to “NOT TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT.” Writing mostly in capital letters on Truth Social, his social media site, Trump told House Republicans that “IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE, YOU DESERVE IT.”
“Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB — JUST WATCH!” Trump wrote.
But the far-right caucus did not give two hoots to Donald Trump’s bold letters nor did they care about the optics that will reach Mar-a-logo after they reject his request. They simply did not care.
