The worst mismatch in the political system has rendered the U.S. democracy extremely vulnerable to corrupt actors. As a result, the bully is racking up a massive pile of wins.

There are some encouraging signs for the paranoid to be happy about the future. It is yet to reach a comfort level, but if the current trend continues, it will help in the long run.
