There were multiple opportunities for the GOP establishment to knock Donald Trump off the pedestal. But they never took advantage of them.

They weren’t ready to call him out, because they needed the votes. They collectively flipped the middle finger to American democracy.
When Donald Trump delivered an insurrection on January 6th, GOP leaders ran for cover. But when they came back, they shielded Trump from impeachment because they needed MAGA votes.
