A Resolute Message on Independence Day: Reclaiming Crimea
Major General Kyrylo Budanov, the Chief of Ukraine’s GUR (Main Intelligence Directorate), proudly declared on August 24th that Ukrainian forces now possess the capacity to strike any part of occupied Crimea.
On August 24th, Ukrainian special forces, in collaboration with the Navy, conducted a raid at Crimea’s western tip in the settlements of Mayak and Olenivka. Andriy Yusov, spokesperson for Ukraine’s GUR revealed that Ukrainian commandos managed to eliminate or inflict serious injuries upon at least 30 Russian troops before successfully retreating from the scene.
August 24th is Ukraine’s independence day.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Ukrainian President Zelensky informed journalists that the raid had been executed without incurring any casualties. However, he emphasized that “it is too early to talk about the liberation of Crimea.”
