Cities across Ukraine were rocked by explosions earlier today as Russia continued to batter its energy infrastructure. Kyiv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Lviv were some of the cities that were pounded by Russia.

Made-in-Iran kamikaze drones were launched first, an apparent effort to confuse the air defense systems, after which the Russian made missiles were launched into the targets. According to reports, most of the Russian missiles were taken out by Ukrainian air defense systems. But the ones that got through were more than enough to batter portions of the cities and plunge them into darkness.

The attack left 40 percent of residents in Kyiv without power. Since Russia started to bombard Ukraine through air, thousands of schools and hundreds of thousands of buildings have been razed to the ground. The status of residents in other cities that came under attack today is still unknown.

The Russian strategy is clear.

Putin understands that his ground forces do not have the strength to defend the occupied territory in Ukraine. Ukraine first grinded the Russian ground forces into a halt and now they are chipping them away at the margins.
