Will Biden rescue Ron from himself?
I am starting to feel for Ron DeSantis. I really do. It is not difficult to follow the Florida governor’s drift into the MAGA world.
Ron DeSantis could have followed in the footsteps of Vermont’s Republican Governor Phil Scott and helped Florida lead the country’s vaccination drive. He could have proudly hoisted the freedom and liberty flag in Tallahassee. As a result, Florida’s tourism industry would have soared like an eagle elevating the governor’s stature.
No need for a vaccine certificate. No one will be running home to grab their forgotten mask. Freedom would have sailed into Miami without dropping an anchor in the ICU.
The Republican Governor of Vermont did not force anyone to take the vaccination. He just made things easier for people to get one. He led from the front. If things continue in the current direction, Vermont may soon become the top tourist destination.
But DeSantis does not want to become the most popular governor of Florida. He wants to be the next president of the United States without crossing swords with Trump. Not sure how he is going to do that. But he thinks it's possible.
He dug a big hole and happily jumped into it. Unfortunately, now it looks like there is no ladder to climb out…
