Senate Democrats Surge
What in the heck is going on?
Senate Democratic candidate Ruben Gallego is leading Kari Lake in Arizona by 7 points, with some polls showing an even larger lead. In Nevada, Democrat Jacky Rosen is ahead of Republican Sam Brown by a significant 10 points. In Pennsylvania, Senator Bob Casey leads Dave McCormick by 4 points, while Wisconsin Democrat Tammy Baldwin holds a strong edge over Republican Eric Hovde.
All of this is understandable and somewhat expected. The size of the leads is surprising, but it’s clear that Democratic Senate candidates are running ahead of MAGA candidates. People still tend to vote for better candidates, and MAGA Republicans keep promoting weaker candidates, which continues to cost them.
What I didn’t anticipate in this election cycle is Senator Sherrod Brown’s 5-point lead over Bernie Moreno. After J.D. Vance’s victory in Ohio, I thought it might be time to write off the state. Ohio, along with West Virginia, was seen as a key state for Republicans to regain control of the Senate.
However, things are looking positive for Democrats to retain that Ohio seat.
On the other hand, I didn’t expect Democratic Senator Jon Tester to be trailing 5 points behind Republican Tim Sheehy in Montana. Of course, this state is likely to go for Trump in this election, as it did…
