Trump must be feeling humiliated. He has likely walked straight into one of the worst, most chaotic diplomatic messes in modern history. How he plans to walk out of it — I have no idea. And he has no one to blame but himself. He should never have appointed Pete Hegseth and Elbridge Colby to the Pentagon, but he did — and paid the price in early July. He should never have sent Steve Witkoff as his point man to the Kremlin, but he did — and now the cost of those appointments has come due.

The Institute for the Study of War counted four different offers for a single ceasefire — that’s how many conflicting variants the Trump administration managed to produce.

I read the ISW report, and by the time I reached the last sentence, I honestly didn’t know whether to roll on the floor laughing or sit still and cry. What a madness. I have never seen stupidity on this scale. And trust me — I’ve seen a lot. But this one? This one is going to be hard to match.
