Syrskyi Pulls Troops Out of Kursk
The propaganda machine will be in overdrive today, but we have the maps to prove otherwise.
I saw it up close during Ukraine’s withdrawal from Avdiivka. A few soldiers were left behind, but the Russians exaggerated their numbers to such an extent that it threatened the integrity of Ukrainian commanders. A similar disinformation campaign may be at play today. However, we can clearly see from brigade positions in Kursk that Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi executed an orderly withdrawal — not a chaotic retreat.
There are miles of distance between Ukrainian brigades at the front and the Russian brigades — miles.
By late evening yesterday, Ukrainian brigades began crowding along the R200 highway, which connects Sudzha (Kursk) with Sumy (Ukraine). They positioned themselves on both sides of the highway to protect the supply route. You can see this in the image below, taken yesterday.
By yesterday evening, you could see that Ukrainian brigades were still positioned at the entrance of Sudzha.
