I don't think the US has any policy whatsoever for a win. They have no idea. It is more like, lets make it hard for Putin to win and then negotiate.

Ukraine needs to get to the sea of Azov, cut the land bridge to Crimea. When they get to that doors, Putin will come to the desk on his own. At that point we need to look at what losses both sides have incurred, if Ukraine still has the combat capacity to push further they should, if they are exhausted, they can dig in.
