How did Donald Trump, the self-proclaimed billionaire who paid $750 in federal taxes for two years, become Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States in charge of an $18.7 trillion economy? First, of course, he lied and lied all the time. But that cannot be the reason why 62.98 million Americans in 2016 and 74.21 Americans in 2020 thought it would be a great idea to let him stay in the White House.

He must have done something that made millions of Americans believe he was the best choice.

Donald Trump gave Americans a long list of items to be extremely worried about. Exaggerated their fear, accused established politicians as the swamp draining the country for personal interests, attacked American institutions as a deep state that is trying to stop him from changing the country, seeded distrust in national media by calling them fake news, and then positioned him as the only person who can fix everything.

  • Immigrants are taking over the country with the help of the Democrats — I will build the wall to stop them.
  • I built the greatest economy ever, but the media will never show you the correct data because they are fake news. The data you just saw is cooked beyond belief.
