There are a few reasons to remain confident
The latest Covid wave in Europe is an “epidemic of the unvaccinated, ” said Hajo Zeeb, professor of epidemiology at the University of Bremen.
And it is because the impact of vaccinations is unmistakably visible in how the latest Covid wave is roiling Europe.
Eastern Europe, where the vaccination rate is lower than in the West, has come under severe stress. It is a tale of two Europes. The top four vaccinated countries, Portugal, Malta, Spain, and Italy, with more than 75% of the population fully vaccinated, reported the lowest number of Covid cases in the region.
While the least four vaccinated countries, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovakia, and Croatia, reported the highest number of Covid cases in the region.
