Tim Walz Brings Joy to the Campaign Trail

Holy smokes, what a speech that was.

Tears started rolling down my left cheek as Kamala Harris’ VP pick, Governor Tim Walz, challenged J.D. Vance to get up from his couch and debate him.

No, I wasn’t sad or angry or anything like that. I laughed so much during his speech that I couldn’t control myself. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the couch reference, but if you have time, look it up. I was laughing so hard that I ended up in tears.

Campaigns of hope and joy are extraordinarily difficult to mount against campaigns driven by fear and anxiety. It might have been possible if we had a fourth estate that understands its role as a pillar of society. Unfortunately, the media is caught in a sensationalism loop for their own survival. Under these circumstances, countering anxiety with hope is incredibly challenging.

In less than 18 minutes, Governor Tim Walz made it clear why Kamala Harris chose him over other candidates. He kept it simple and to the point. And, honestly, the man is a happy soul.

Campaigns cannot stray too far from the candidate. You can adjust the edges, embellish the presentation, and soften the weak points, but that’s about all you can do. Ultimately, the campaign will reflect the candidate. Decision-making at the top will…
