Trouble Calls on Lawyers who pushed Trump’s Election Lies
They had it coming
In a scene that could be flicked out of the pages of a John Grisham story, U.S. District Court Judge Linda V. Parker asked if any of the attorneys who challenged Michigan’s 2020 election results spoke to the witness.
No one responded.
Not a single one.
Anyone? Pressed the judge.
She then went on to brutally expose the frivolous nature of the lawsuit.
“Let the record reflect that no one made that inquiry, which was central to [the] allegation,” the judge said.
Attorneys have a responsibility to investigate the assertions they present to the court. But in the Michigan 2020 election lawsuit, not a single attorney bothered to talk to the witness before or even after filing the suit.
“If Judge Parker decides to sanction the lawyers, she could require them to pay the legal costs of the other parties in the lawsuit, assess additional monetary penalties or recommend grievance proceedings that could lead to them being banned from practicing law in Michigan or their disbarment.”
