The tale of two locations, Ukraine’s capital and a town closer to the Ukrainian border in Russia, summarizes the current state of Russia’s invasion.

Russia has spent a lot of its high end weapons to target Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital.

“In the month of May alone, Russia bombarded Kyiv 17 times. It has fired hypersonic missiles from MIG-31 fighter jets and attacked with land-based ballistic missiles powerful enough to level an entire apartment block. Russian bombers and ships have fired dozens of long-range cruise missiles, and more than 200 attack drones have featured in blitzes meant to confuse and overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses”.

If Putin was hoping to force Ukrainian military planners to divert their attention from an impending counter-offensive, then his attacks were a major failure. Because Ukraine brought down pretty much everything the Russians threw at Kyiv.

Several layers of sophisticated air defense are protecting Kyiv.

Not a single ballistic missile from Russia was able to touch its target since the day Patriot air defense batteries arrived in Kyiv. Ukraine’s biggest challenge is protecting civilians from falling fragments of Russian missiles shot…
