Why Putin is Struggling to Pivot to the Worst
He still wants cooperation through intimidation
According to US President Joe Biden, Russia’s accusation that Ukraine has biological and chemical weapons is a “clear sign” that Putin is considering to use them.
On December 4, 2021, the Biden administration warned the world that Russia would invade Ukraine with 175,000 troops in early 2022. The intelligence assessment was spot on. They were right about the size, almost got the timing right and they were accurate about the multi-front invasion.
Not many gave the announcement the respect it deserved. Most of us were still in denial. We did not want another war.
Biden could have asked the US Secretary of State to tell the world about Russian plans for biological and chemical weapons, but he delivered the message to the world himself.
The US President knows what he is doing.
He is making life difficult for Putin.
US President Biden and Ukraine President Zelensky are firmly in control of the narrative. Together, they have painted the Russian invasion as a battle between good and evil.
